Boulder’s food scene is a vibrant tapestry woven with local flavors and a commitment to sustainable, fresh ingredients – both by chefs and home cooks alike.
At the heart of our flavor haven is the Boulder County Farmers Markets, where the community comes together to celebrate the bountiful harvest of the region. These markets showcase the best of local produce, artisanal products, and handcrafted goods. Strolling through the market, visitors are greeted by the vivid colors of freshly picked fruits and vegetables, the inviting aroma of baked goods, and the friendly faces of local farmers and vendors eager to share the stories behind their offerings.
BCFM Winter Market
December 2 and 3, 9 am – 3 pm
Celebrate the end of the harvest season and the start of holiday festivities with the BCFM special two-day Winter Market at the Boulder County Fairgrounds (9595 Nelson Road in Longmont). Discovery, unique eats, and locally inspired holiday gift-giving collide in this one-of-a-kind market. Come enjoy the best that our community has to offer with your nearest and dearest.
Beyond the farmers markets, Boulder residents take pride in cultivating a rich food culture within their homes. With an emphasis on farm-to-table practices, many home cooks in Boulder find inspiration from the seasonal offerings at the markets. Local foodies have become dedicated to the Winter Market CSA share from BCFM – eight weeks of curated groceries from over 70 producers. Every purchase of a Winter Share helps uplift local farmers and producers whose income usually takes a hit over the winter months.
From whipping up inventive dishes with organic vegetables to crafting homemade jams with fruits from the market, Boulderites savor the process of creating meals that not only nourish the body but also contribute to the sustainability of the local food ecosystem. This symbiotic relationship was outlined in A Bite of Boulder, our community cookbook we published in 2020.
A Bite of Boulder is a collection of more than 40 recipes from Boulder’s favorite restaurants along with stories of the dishes and the people behind the food. With special features on wine, cheese, and spices, kitchen tips & tricks, the future of our food system, and featured stories from local industry personalities, A Bite of Boulder will keep you connected to the Boulder dining community throughout the year.
In Boulder, the food experience extends beyond the plate, encompassing a sense of community and a shared commitment to the values of freshness, sustainability, and supporting local businesses. Whether relishing a meal at a farm-to-table restaurant or experimenting with ingredients sourced from the farmers’ market, Boulder’s food scene invites residents and visitors alike to savor the unique and delectable flavors that define our picturesque city.

Donations can be delivered M-Th 8:30 – 11:30 AM to 1575 Yarmouth Ave in North Boulder. It’s also a great time of year to host a neighborhood food-drive, here’s a great resource to make it easy as pie.

Holiday Giving Program
Donating gifts is a great way to help make the season brighter for local families who are struggling to make ends meet. Last year EFAA’s Holiday Gift Room, brought smiles to more than 1,000 local kids. This year, given the number of families with children coming to EFAA for support, we anticipate nearly double the number of children hoping for gifts from the EFAA gift room. Beginning Monday, November 27 – Monday, December 11, we will be accepting donations of new and unwrapped gifts for children and teens ages 0-18.
